01.
Nice To Meet You!
I'm Pete - Founder of Confyde - a mental health startup built to help people reach out for support.I'm NOT a construction guy!but I WAS in sports.

...and I was also

02.
Construction & Sports
There are a lot of similarities between our two worlds.
We're tough.
It's a culture where you don't show weakness.
It's a world where people are trying to get you to talk, but you don't want it to affect your job, how you're perceived etc.

03.
Mental Health
But there is a mental health epidemic. Here are some stats for construction:

So what's the solution?Well, everyone's trying to get us to talk.
04.
Reaching out for help can be hard...
But the first step towards receiving support is letting someone know you need it.
70-90% of people with depression eventually respond positively.
Approx. 30% fewer suicide attempts were recorded among people receiving intervention.
71,000+ participants across 415 studies showed meaningful improvement from seeking support.
05.
And having resources isn't place isn't always straightforward...
When I was an athlete, we had great resources available to us (much like an EAP).But I didn't want to talk to someone who didn't:
Know what it was like to have your contract on the line based on your next performance
Or know what it was like to deal with all the pressure and media that goes with being an athlete
I wanted to talk to people who had been there, and done that, and can help me...And this is the direction our industries are heading towards - THE PEER SUPPORT MODEL
06.
Confyde
We built Confyde to make it easier and more accesible for people to reach out when they're struggling.People can reach out to:
Your peer supporters
Your mental health champions
Your staff
Your resources
07.
Here's what we learned...

The above visualization represents aggregated, de-identified data compiled through the Confyde platform from select organizations during a specified period in 2026.

08.
Support Portal

Where you can make your peer supporters and resources more accessible and contactable, and have this displayed through QR codes around the job site or on hard hats etc.
Check In Tool

Where you can send out confidential check in's, gather meaningful insights, and support those who are struggling.
09.
Before I Go
(since it's suicide prevention month)
Do me a favour and check in on someone! You never know what someone may be going through.Simple, open ended questions go along way like:
How have you been?
You seem quieter than usual, is everything okay?
And don't forgot, that if something doesn't feel right, don't be afraid to ask again.
